Seit den Anfangszeiten um 2150 besitzt jedes Raumschiff der Sternenflotte eine Widmungsplakette. Diese ist für gewöhnlich auf der Brücke angebracht und besteht aus massivem Edelmetall oder elegantem Glas.

Auf ihr sind der Name und die Klasse des Schiffs, der Konstruktionsort sowie eine Widmung und die Namen der Konstrukteure eingeprägt.
