Chemische Elemente sind Materialien, die aus Atomen jeweils gleicher Protonenzahl bestehen, wie zum Beispiel Wasserstoff. Diese Elemente können ihrerseits Bindungen untereinander eingehen und dadurch sogenannte Moleküle bilden.
Chemische Elemente können verschiedene Aggregatzustände erreichen:
