Bjo Trimble führt in diesem Buch, welches mit Sicherheit auch als eines der ersten Star Trek-Lexika bezeichnet werden kann, die Classic-Folgen ebenso wie die Zeichentrickserie in Kurzbesprechungen auf. Außerdem wurden eine Reihe von Fan-Art-Zeichnungen und ein komplettes Lexikon zum Thema beigegeben.

Bjo Trimble widmete dieses Buch, welches offiziell erst 1977 herausgegeben wurde, drei Personen: …Gene Roddenberry for creating Star Trek in the first place, John Trimble for believing I could get this book together, Martin LeVita for making certain that I did it!

Hintergrundinformationen

Die Arbeit an diesem Buch basiert zu einem großen Teil auf persönlichen Notizen, Audiomitschnitten von TOS-Episoden und Drehbuchausschnitten, die von Dorothy Jones Heydt zusammengetragen wurden.

Eine Besonderheit dieses Buches, zumindest in der offiziellen Erstausgabe von 1977, ist die Drehscheibe auf der Vorderseite des Buches. An ihr kann man im Einzelnen die Titel der Folgen, die Sternzeit und die Seitenzahl der jeweiligen Folgenbesprechung ablesen. Versteckt ist die Drehscheibe unter der Untertassensektion der Enterprise.

Eine Vielzahl von Informationen aus diesem Buch wurden auch in die Star Trek Enzyklopädie übernommen, wobei die Autoren der Enzyklopädie jedoch nicht immer überprüften, ob der Inhalt auch in der Folge ausgestrahlt wurde oder nur im Drehbuch besprochen wurde.
